GENEROUS DONATION TO ENHANCE CAMPUS RADIO AT CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY

 

Wisdom news 24/10/24 – In a remarkable display of community spirit, Mr. Abdul Samad Nurudeen, an esteemed indigenous citizen of Fiapre, generously donated an Opel saloon car to the Catholic University campus radio this morning at 9 AM. This thoughtful contribution is aimed at fostering a vibrant teaching and learning environment, ensuring that future professional journalists are well-equipped for their careers.

The donation ceremony was graced by several notable university officials. Receiving the car was Vice Chancellor Professor Daniel Kwabena Obeng Ofori, flanked by the Station Manager, Mr. Adam Siaka, and Registrar Mr. Emmanuel K. Kaba. To the Vice Chancellor's immediate left was Pro Vice Chancellor Rev. Fr. Peter Nkrumah Amponsah, who also chairs the Campus Radio Management Board. Adjacent to him was Rev. Fr. Prof. Owoahene Acheampong, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication.

In delivering the car, Mr. Abdul Samad Nurudeen expressed what motivated him for the initiative. “As an indigenous person of Fiapre, born and raised in this vibrant community, I am deeply honored to be part of the Catholic University of Ghana's journey. The establishment of this university signifies a profound commitment by the Catholic Church to uplift and empower our local communities. It reflects a dedication to education and the development of future leaders.

In recognition of this commitment, I am pleased to contribute my modest gesture—a donation of a vehicle to support the university's endeavors. This act symbolizes my gratitude for being associated with such a learned community. I believe in the transformative power of education and am excited to play a role in fostering the growth of this institution.

Together, let us continue to nurture this partnership and strive for excellence in education. I am confident that our collective efforts will pave the way for a brighter future for our students and community".

 The Vice Chancellor Professor Obeng, speaking on behalf of the university, expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Nurudeen for his generous gesture. He remarked, “This is the first time in my eight years as Vice Chancellor that I have received such a valuable gift from an indigenous citizen. We are truly impressed and grateful.” He further emphasized that the Opel saloon car will be instrumental in advancing the operations of the campus radio, ultimately benefiting the Journalism Faculty as a whole.

Mr. Nurudeen’s donation not only underscores his commitment to supporting educational initiatives but also highlights the important role community members play in enhancing the resources available to students. The Vice Chancellor pledged that the car would be utilized effectively for its intended purpose, ensuring it contributes significantly to the university's mission.

In response to the generous act, Rev. Fr. Peter Nkrumah Amponsah – Pro Vice Chancellor,  through whom the car came also extended his heartfelt thanks, noting that this contribution would greatly enhance the station's capacity to serve the university and the surrounding community.

The university looks forward to utilizing this new resource to bolster its journalism training programs, fostering a new generation of capable and professional journalists who will make meaningful contributions to society.
